The process for me was more fun this time: During a jog near a friend's house in Las Vegas, I ran by a
cactus garden. Then I simply photographed it as well as I could. At my studio I did a small watercolor
study of it (See below and in watercolor section). Then I chose from my array of  fabrics; ironed and
backed them with Seam-A-Seam glue. After trimming off excess, I started from the background-
cutting and  laying down shapes working to the foreground. I made changes as I saw fit, as in the
placement of a secondary area of interest on the right, almost level with the bright red, orange and
yellow cactus apples. When I was happy with the look, I fused it with heat for permanence.  Then there
was a few hours of dark fabric painting and light acrylic highlighting, which brought out the contrast of
the scene, much more than can be accomplished in a watercolor. Instead of the usual month long
process my larger embellished fabric collages take, this was completed in 2 days.
