Drina Fried was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. She became an
artist while living in central California, and in 2008 she and her husband
moved to Nevada. The usual format for her unique Embellished Fabric
Collage pieces is to lay out the composition in a substrate of various glue
backed textured fabrics (silks, suedes, cottons, etc.). After being heat set,
she further details and shades with acrylic and fabric paint, thread, crystals
and/or other embellishments with the goal of transforming her visions into
interiors, still lifes, and landscapes. Her watermedia pieces are often
commissions of pets, while other watermedias are cityscapes or preludes to
embellished fabric collages.
